The last couple of weeks were straight cray (do people still say that?). So lets start with the fact that my seasonal allergies decided to show up early, everything I scheduled either ran late OR just got canceled all together AND finally, my best friend went to Nashville without me this spring break. I know these aren't serious world problems but my week was all out of wack. I blame it on Mercury being in Retrograde. I didn't feel like myself and then I realized I started to hide from all mankind......... That was my solution. It just made sense.
I (finally) got on the phone with my bff Anita for the first time in like a week and then BAM, I felt like myself again. Thank goodness for emergency contacts... right? Just like in Mary H.K. Choi's new book "Emergency Contact", Anita is my "go to" for comfort. She's kinda like my large fries after a night of drinking.
What I loved most about the book "Emergency Contact" is the fact that the two characters Sam and Penny are so different. Their relationship isn't the same as mine and my bestie Anita but in a lot of ways it reminds me of us. The fact that no matter what time of day, I can text her and ask her the dumbest question in the world. OR the fact that if i'm struggle to remember something- I can legit text her a vague question like "what was that girl's name who wore red at the party?" AND I SWEAR she will know or the other way around. I'm not going to lie.....I have the better memory between the two of us. So most likely, it's her texting me the vague question. Be thankful for the people around you that are there when you need them the most or when you least expect it...... OR when you JUST need ice cream.
